EXTENSION TO COASTAL COTTAGE, CWM, ABEREIDDY.

Located on the edge of Abereiddy Bay, the cottage overlooks the headland of the former slate quarry of the Blue Lagoon. With its limited site area and rock faced bank the client was looking for a two storey extension to the rear of the listed cottage with views out towards the sea. The scheme as approved provides a utility and shower room at ground floor level and an additional bedroom at first floor level along with internal adaptions whilst keeping the facade of this listed building unchanged.

NEW SEMI DETATCHED HOUSES, OLD BOAT YARD, LITTLE HAVEN.

The practice was asked to design a pair of contemporary dwellings in a vernacular style to provide accommodation for the client and their family along with a similar unit for letting to provide income for the family in retirement. Due to the sites key location opposite the Lifeboat Station and shop in the heart of the village adjacent to the main car park the planners insisted on a front garden to each property to provide buffer zone for the occupants privacy along with off road parking. To the rear of the properties conservatory extensions were added to give solar / thermal heat gains along with other sustainable measures and as there were views of the small bay from some of the upper floors the windows to these area were scooped out of the conservatory roof line to take advantage of the vistas. The practice also provided cost advice and ran the project on site using a local contractor as the client was based some considerable distance away.
