DESIGN CONCEPTS FOR MIXED USE PROJECTS, MILFORD DOCKS

The practice has been tasked by Quayside Estates to work up concepts to build on the national practices of planning and destination consultants who were responsible for the emerging masterplan for the regeneration of the docks to improve its visitors footfall and full time occupation, and to provide a vibrant mix of sustainable marine related uses for its new maritime quarter, squares and public realm overlooking the marina in the dock basin. The whole area is moving away from the traditional heavy industries associated with fishing and ship repairs/building and extensive consultation is taking place with Pembrokeshire County Council/Welsh Government/Cadw (Welsh Historic Monuments) over the proposals in this important conservation area, which will be subject to a 5+ year development programme once all approvals and a development framework are in place, hopefully in 2012.
