CURLEW CALL, PORT LION, LLANGWM, PEMBROKESHIRE.

The cottage sits on the Milford Haven waterway and is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and it offered a significant challenge in how to meet the clients expectations in terms of the brief, whilst keeping the National Parks planners happy, in order for them to support the proposals. After several unsuccessful attempts, a compromise was reached using a plan built into the adjacent hillside, and a detailed planning consent was obtained. Works have now been completed and the client has moved into the cottage, which has been praised by the National Park as an exemplar of sensitive remodelling and extension of a traditional building.

BURTON HOUSE, LITTLE HAVEN, PEMBROKESHIRE.

The original cottages sat in the heart of the village and are within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Both families had spent holidays locally for a number of years and they jointly acquired the original buildings which were altered and extended to provide shared accommodation for both of their families. As the cottages can be seen from all sides and above the planners were particularly keen that the massing of the completed structure should be sympathetic in scale to its neighbours and complementary in style to the vernacular aesthetic of this popular seaside village. We introduced the clients to a competant local building contractor who undertook the work on their behalf to a very high standard.
