Residential Development, Blaenavon
January 27, 2014, 5:28pm

PDL, led by Julian Mansel-Thomas, have been appointed by Butlerwall Homes (whom the practice are already working with several sites in Pembrokeshire) to provide Building Regulations/Working drawings for all the remaining phases of the 100+ unit development, that was designed by Bristol-based Architect, ESHA, who were also responsible for several housing estates in the Prince Charles’ award-winning Poundbury Development near Dorchester in Dorset for the Duchy of Cornwall.

The Blaenavon site follows the same high-density urban pattern partly as Poundbury, and is on a steeply sloping site, with an eclectic mix of European styles to provide a high quality environment, and work has already commenced on a handful of the second phase dwellings. This site sits a little further along the valley from the World Heritage site that first produced steel in the Victorian era and the Big Pit mining museum, and has excellent links to Newport and the M4 motorway network east of Cardiff.
